01 1. About These Terms
These Terms of Service govern paving work provided by Paving Edmonton ("we", "us", "our"). By requesting a quote, booking a visit or accepting work from us, you ("customer", "you") agree to them.
They are updated from time to time. The version in effect on the date of your work is the version that applies, and material changes are published on this page.
02 2. Paving Work We Provide
We carry out residential and commercial asphalt work, including new surfaces and replacements, resurfacing, excavation and base work, repairs, sealcoating, crack sealing and line marking.
We do not carry out concrete, decorative or interlocking surface work. Where that is what a property needs, we will say so rather than quote asphalt for it.
03 3. Quotes and Pricing
Quotes state the measured area, the asphalt and base depths, and what is excluded. Figures given before a site visit are estimates and are labelled as such.
A quote is valid for the period stated on it. Prices are not held open indefinitely, because material costs and the remaining season both change.
Items excluded from a quote are listed on it. Removal, disposal, drainage correction and line marking are priced separately unless the quote says otherwise.
04 4. Site Conditions and the Base
The condition of the ground beneath an existing surface cannot be established until that surface is removed. Where additional base work is required, the rate for it is agreed in writing before work begins.
If conditions are found that make the agreed specification unsuitable, we will stop, explain what we have found and price the alternative rather than proceed.
05 5. Permits and Property Lines
Replacing a surface like for like does not usually require permission. Changing its size, shape or access point may, and requirements vary by municipality.
Responsibility for any application is agreed in writing before booking. You are responsible for confirming the position of your property boundary where work approaches it.
06 6. Workmanship and Materials
Work is carried out to the depths and specification stated on the quote. Materials are those described, and where a product is named on the quote that is the product used.
Cover for defects relates to workmanship rather than to wear. Oxidation, fading and age-related surface cracking are normal behaviour in asphalt and are not defects.
07 7. Weather and Scheduling
Paving requires a dry surface above a minimum temperature. Dates are given as windows and may move, and we will tell you as early as we know rather than on the morning.
Work postponed by weather is rescheduled to the next workable slot. A delay caused by conditions is not a cancellation by either party.
08 8. Curing and First-Season Use
A new surface is usable before it is fully hardened. Return times are given at handover based on conditions on the day rather than on a fixed number of hours.
Marks from tyres, scuffing from a wheel turned while stationary, and impressions from concentrated loads such as trailer jacks or stands are not defects. Keeping such loads off a new surface is the customer's responsibility.
09 9. Payment
Payment terms are stated on the quote. Where a deposit is taken it is applied to materials and scheduling, and the scope it secures is written down before it is paid.
The balance is due on completion unless the quote states otherwise. Work completed to the agreed specification is payable even where a later phase is deferred.
10 10. Cancellation and Rescheduling
You may cancel or reschedule before material has been ordered and the crew allocated at no charge. After that point, costs already committed may be payable.
We may reschedule for weather, or where site conditions on arrival make the work unsafe or unsuitable. In either case we will explain what has changed.
11 11. Access and Safety
You are responsible for providing access on the agreed date, including moving vehicles, unlocking gates and clearing the route for machinery and material delivery.
Work areas are barriered while in progress. Entering a barriered area, or driving on a surface before the stated return time, is at your own risk.
12 12. Liability
We are responsible for damage caused by our own negligence. We are not responsible for pre-existing defects, for failure arising from ground conditions disclosed and declined, or for damage caused by loads the surface was not specified to carry.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
13 13. Privacy
Information you give us is used to quote, schedule and carry out your work, and to contact you about it. It is not sold.
Enquiry forms on this site are processed by a third-party form provider. You can ask us what we hold about you and ask us to delete it.
14 14. Governing Law and Contact
These terms are governed by the laws applicable in AB. Questions about them, or about work we have carried out, should be raised with us directly in the first instance.
