Asphalt repair
Most surfaces do not need replacing. They need the water kept out of them. We quote the repair that matches the damage, and say plainly when a repair will not hold so you are not paying twice for the same square metre.
Reading the damage
Single cracks running the length of a drive are shrinkage and movement. They matter because they let water down to the base, and filling them is cheap compared with what happens after a winter of water getting underneath.
A patch where the surface has broken into small interlocking pieces is different. The base below has lost its strength, so sealing the top does nothing. That area needs cutting out full depth and rebuilding.
Sunken areas and water that stands after rain point the same way. Both mean the ground moved, so the section is lifted and re-based rather than topped up. If it is widespread, replacement is the cheaper answer and we will say so.
How repairs run
The shape of the cracking tells us whether this is a surface problem or the base giving way. The answer changes the repair and the price.
Patches are cut square and taken back to asphalt that is still solid. A patch poured into a ragged hole fails at its edges within a season.
Where the granular layer has washed out it is replaced and compacted. Skipping this is the reason a patch sinks again in the same spot.
Hot mix is compacted level with the surrounding surface and the joint is sealed, because the edge of a patch is where water tries to get in next.
Repair services
Six repairs, matched to what the damage is actually doing.
Cut square, cleaned out, base replaced where it has washed away, then filled and compacted level. A pothole poured full of cold mix is back by spring.
Learn moreCleaning and sealing the cracks that let water down to the base. It costs a fraction of patching and it is what buys a surface the most time.
Learn moreFull-depth removal and replacement of a failed section. Used where the surface has broken into interlocking pieces and sealing would achieve nothing.
Learn moreRebuilding crumbled edges where the surface was never supported. Edges fail first because there is nothing beside them holding the asphalt in.
Learn moreLifting a section that has dropped, rebuilding the base under it and relaying. Topping up a dip without touching the base just moves the problem.
Learn moreRegrading where water sits after rain. Water that cannot run off will find the edges and take the base with it in the first hard freeze.

They repaired what needed repairing and left the rest alone. Two patches, crack sealing, and the driveway has years left.
Every repair started with a look at the base, which is why the patches have not sunk.
Fair prices for repairs and they carry the hot asphalt on the truck, so most jobs finish in one visit.
They told me plainly that one section would need replacing in a few years and repaired it for now. Honest.

We will tell you which repair the damage needs, what it costs, and whether it is worth doing at all. All three in writing after a look at the surface.
If a repair will not hold, you will be told that before it is quoted.
