Season and dates
Paving is weather work. A date in Spruce Grove is a plan rather than a promise, and the useful thing is understanding which parts of the year are comfortable and which are a gamble.
How the season works
Asphalt has to be laid hot onto a dry surface above a certain temperature. That rules out a meaningful part of the year, and it means the available window is busier than the rest of the calendar combined.
The comfortable middle of the season is the easiest time to get a reliable date. The edges are where plans slip, because a cold damp spell turns a booked morning into a postponement at short notice.
Crack work has a different and later window, which is useful. Sealing in autumn fits after the laying season, before the freeze is the point of it, and the day itself explains why the forecast matters so much.
Booking well
A quote costs nothing to hold. Having one ready means you are in the queue when the weather turns usable rather than joining it then.
The edges are where dates slip. If the work can wait a few weeks for a more reliable window, that is usually the better choice.
We will give a realistic range and narrow it as the forecast firms up, rather than naming a day we would then have to move.
Curing does not care what time the laying finished. Plan parking for the night after as part of the booking rather than on the evening.
When it slips
We tell you as early as we know. A postponement decided the evening before is inconvenient; one discovered when a crew arrives and leaves again is worse, and avoidable.
Rescheduling goes to the next workable slot rather than to the back of the queue. A job that lost its day to weather has not lost its place, which is the only fair way to run a weather-dependent trade.
Some work is less weather-bound and can fill the gap. Crack sealing and marking both have their own conditions, and planned maintenance is easier to place flexibly than a laying day is.

They schedule Spruce Grove jobs by season and told us honestly that a late fall job would be a compromise. We waited for spring.
Sealcoating in Spruce Grove on a weekday morning, dry by evening, lines clean.
Pothole repair at our Spruce Grove rental done the same week. Hot asphalt, compacted flush.

Driveway Paving
The apron cracks first because the base under it was never compacted properly. This is not a surface problem. It is a foundation problem, and it decides whether resurfacing will hold.

Asphalt Repair
Every April, Edmonton's potholes reappear. They did not form overnight. They started as open cracks the previous fall, filled with water, and shattered when the freeze-thaw cycle began. The repair you avoid in October becomes the pothole you cannot avoid in spring.

Sealcoating
The autumn window for sealcoating closes fast in Edmonton. A sealed surface resists salt damage and plough wear on edges. Here's when to act and what changes if you wait.
