Small jobs
A single small repair further out is awkward to justify on its own, and the answer is not to refuse it. It is to combine it, which is how a one-pothole job in Devon still gets done properly.
Why combining works
Mobilisation is a fixed cost per visit. Getting a crew, a truck and material to an address costs much the same whether the work takes an hour or most of a day, which is what makes a single small item awkward.
Combining fixes that. Several repairs on one property, or a repair plus the crack sealing that was due anyway, spreads one trip across more work and makes the whole list sensible rather than the one item marginal.
Neighbours can share a visit too, and often do. A pothole, a run of cracks and a crumbling edge are frequently the same trip, and a maintenance cycle is the organised version of the same idea.
How to use a visit
Walk the property and tell us all of it. The item that prompted the call is rarely the only thing worth doing while a crew is there.
Crack sealing, an edge, a low spot that holds water. Some of it is cheap and some of it prevents the next larger job.
If somebody nearby needs similar work, one trip covering both is better value for each of you than two separate visits.
Sometimes the honest answer is that the item can wait until there is more to do, and we will say that instead of charging for a trip.
When not to wait
Anything letting water into the base. An open crack or a hole through the surface is actively causing the next failure, and waiting a season turns an inexpensive item into a structural one.
Anything that is a hazard. A deep hole or a broken edge where people walk is not a maintenance-schedule question, and that applies as much to a private drive as to a lot.
Everything else can usually be grouped. What one winter does to an open crack is the reason the first category is urgent, the end-of-life signs tell you when repairs have stopped being the answer, and that decision is worth settling before a trip is booked at all.
What we do here
Usually combined into a single visit.
Individual failures cut out and rebuilt, and the item most often combined with other work.

Driveway Paving
The apron cracks first because the base under it was never compacted properly. This is not a surface problem. It is a foundation problem, and it decides whether resurfacing will hold.

Asphalt Repair
Every April, Edmonton's potholes reappear. They did not form overnight. They started as open cracks the previous fall, filled with water, and shattered when the freeze-thaw cycle began. The repair you avoid in October becomes the pothole you cannot avoid in spring.

Sealcoating
The autumn window for sealcoating closes fast in Edmonton. A sealed surface resists salt damage and plough wear on edges. Here's when to act and what changes if you wait.

Walk the property and tell us everything, not just the worst of it. We will quote the list as a single trip and say which items could fairly wait.
Mention a neighbour who needs similar work; one visit can cover both.
